I didn't intend to start a "series" on free sewing patterns. But I just wanted to share some sites that offer some quality patterns. Another good one is Burda Style.
Last year I downloaded a slippers pattern that was free at the time. The pattern was alright. But the fabric suggestion was for heavy felt. I made the slippers and I had holes in the soles within a month. Now I know that there is a material that you can buy specifically for slipper soles called slipper grippers.
Anyway, once you download a free sewing pattern from Burda Style make sure to save it to your computer or print it out if you plan on using it. Because if the pattern ever becomes available for purchase then the free download will be removed from your account. At least, that has been my experience. I wish I had known that when I first signed up. Oh well.
It appears that most of the free patterns are user submitted. So, I always read the comments to decide if the pattern is worth investing time and fabric into. There are usually quite a few free patterns to choose from. And even the patterns that are for sale are reasonably priced.
